I’m sure this story, or something quite similar, has happened to you before. It’s a big night; you’re going out to a happening place with someone special. You have the perfect evening dress and the matching shoes that you and your girl friends meticulously picked at the mall last week. As you look at your own reflection at the mirror, you noticed something amiss, something that’s just not right. You obviously need a piece of jewelry, you told yourself. The same applies for homes, too. Everything that you thought your home needs, you’ve bought them, yet something is still missing. But it could be as simple as the proper placement of the right floor rugs.

Floor rugs have important functions in homes and shelters since the earliest civilizations. Europeans were marveling at Persian rugs’ magnificence since the 17th century, when the rugs were brought to Western Europe. The most elaborately made, and perhaps the most expensive if it were still around today, Persian rug of all is believed to be the Spring Carpet of Khosrau because of the materials it was made of, like gold, silver, precious stones, wool, and silk. Although I don’t think this humongous rug, measuring 400 by 100 feet, would fit in your home.

Without really knowing where to put them, some people buy rugs anyway. However, these people can take full advantage of the benefits of properly using floor rugs if they just know how. In parts of the house where people walk the most, they can put floor rugs, also known as rug runners, to protect the floor surface from constant wear and tear. Floor rugs can be used for decorative purposes, also, making it the focal point of the entire room.

To make sure you get more than your money’s worth, take care of your floor rugs so you can use them longer. Vacuum your rugs regularly, moving back and forth in the same direction. Dirt can accumulate everywhere so make sure you vacuum the whole area. When you notice discoloration or fading in high-traffic areas of the rugs, rotate them as often as possible. Be cautious of liquids like coffee, wine, colas, and milk that may be spilled on the rug, as these will stain the rug. There are different ways to spot clean a rug. Take your floor rugs to professional cleaners, but be sure that it will be practical for the type of rug you wanted cleaned.

Archeologists can attest to the fact that floor rugs are important in homes of the past, home owners today also know the value of these rugs, and it doesn’t take experts to know that floor rugs will still be important in the future. Don’t be amazed that floor rugs can be found in the most beautiful royal palaces, in tents of nomads out in the deserts, and most especially, in today’s modern homes. A quick online search and you will notice lots of choices out there, in different design, pattern, colors and sizes, and it’s up to you to know which ones will look best in your home.

What’s the difference between the Politics section and the Election section?

During the election, Politics talks about the election, but so does the Election section. After the election, Politics goes back to regular politics, but so does the Election section.

I don’t get it.

Bonus Question: Why do you prefer hanging out here as opposed to the Politics section?

What are some safe, family-friendly, and good on gas mileage?

The family has two son, 7 and 2, planing on atleast one more, maybe two. Plus Mom and Dad = 4 people for now.

For that size family, try a miniVAN. There’s a lot of good models from Ford, Toyota, Honda. Toyota Previa is good. Ford Eseries is a bit big & Honda odessey is OK.
